Portland Head Light is the first and the oldest of all Maine’s lighthouses. One of the most beautiful lighthouses in America, it is located in Casco Bay at the entrance to Portland Harbor. There were once seven lighthouses that marked the waters of Casco Bay and Portland Harbor and one lightship.

Some of these lighthouses are on rocky ledges and can be difficult to visit but have many stories to tell. Sad to say, some of these lighthouses are almost forgotten. But for Authors, Historians and Enthusiast, the lighthouses will always be part of history that should never be forgotten.
