This was the first permanent light station in Scotland.

Characteristic and Range: Two white flashes every 15 seconds, visible for 22 nautical miles.

Description of Tower: Square tower on stone dwelling.

Date Established: 1636

Date Present Tower Built: 1816

Date Automated: 1989

Fog Signal: Discontinued 1986 (was 4 blasts every 150 seconds).

Current Use: Active aid to navigation.

Open To Public? Grounds only.
