The 1791 red and white banned Happisburgh Lighthouse in Norfolk, England looks fresh again after receiving gallons upon gallons of paint.

The painting project took five weeks. During that time the workmen worked 10 hours per day, seven days a week to complete the project. A minor setback happened when a rain storm hit the area causing the bottom band of freshly painted red paint to run into the white paint, which made the bottom of the tower look pink. But, in due time that was corrected by the painters. The last time the lighthouse had been painted was in 1998.

Although the paint had been donated by the contractor, the volunteers of the nonprofit Happisburgh Lighthouse Trust had to raise substantial money for the project, which cost five times more than their yearly operating cost.
