Portland Head Light Ornament

Maine’s Portland Head Light has been captured in the art of Marsha York, a master of the unusual Chinese technique known as Eglomise. Defined as painting on the back of a glass surface for viewing from the front, this artists works are created inside hand-blown glass ornaments, using long, curved brushes, inserted in the small opening at the top. You’ll be astonished at the beauty and clarity of her original images, which are not only preserved from wear inside the ornament, but allow light to pass through, giving them a special radiance.
