Banded Beacon Gets Makeover
The 1791 red and white banned Happisburgh Lighthouse in Norfolk, England looks fresh again after receiving gallons upon gallons of paint. The painting project took five weeks. During that time the workmen worked 10 hours per day, seven days a week to complete the project. A minor setback happened when a rain storm hit the area causing the bottom band of freshly painted red paint to run into the white paint, which made the bottom of the tower look pink. In due time the painters corrected the problem. The last time the lighthouse had been painted was in 1998.
St. Joe Gets Makeover
The scaffolding has gone up at Michigan’s St. Joseph North Pier Outer Lighthouse. The lighthouse is getting a makeover after being neglected for years.
Bodie Island Restoration Begins

As part of that process a new boardwalk has been installed and the light stations outbuildings are being moved to make room for the tower restoration. The day is coming when visitors will again be able to climb the steps of the historic tower.
