Avery point, CT
Avery Point was constructed as a memorial to the legacy of keepers. The octagonal red block tower is topped by an 8-sided wood lantern room. The beacon originally projected a steady white light of 100 candlepower but was no longer attended or maintained after 1967. In 1997, a movement was spearheaded to save the decaying structure. A dedicated Corps of volunteers has restored this sentinel to pristine condition once again and successfully had it listed as a National Historic Site. This piece honors, commemorates, and celebrates the incredible effort to restore this lighthouse. Limited Edition 2,500 pieces. 6” x 6”.
