Just south of Baltimore, in the Chesapeake Bay, a cast iron lighthouse sits atop a hidden shoal. A testament to American engineering genius, this caisson-style beacon took eighteen years in the making. Upon completion in 1908, the two-story octagonal brick dwelling with mansard roof contained ample space for two keepers, including a sitting room, kitchen and bedrooms.
