Barnegat NJ

The first lighthouse was established at Barnegat Inlet, New Jersey in 1835 but was of inferior construction and only lasted 20 years. The present light has withstood time and weather for more than 140 years. The light was retired in 1944 and was repaired and restored so that it opened to the public in 1991.
