Cape Neddick ME (Nubble)
Cape Neddick Lighthouse received its nickname from its location on a “nubble” or outcropping of rocks in York Beach Maine. The tower stands 41 feet tall and is 88 feet above the ocean. The fixed red light flashed at 6-second intervals and could be seen 13 nautical miles away. The tower was completed in 1879. The last keeper left Nubble in 1987. The town of York provides a holiday lighting of the beacon and keepers house every year which has truly become a tradition for the area residents and those who come to witness the event as well.
