Charlotte Genesee, NY

Built in 1821 overlooking the mouth of the Genesee River and the port of Rochester, this 40 foot tower and small keeper’s house was plagued by shifting sands over the years. The beach around the area continued to grow, leaving the lighthouse further and further from the water’s edge. A secondary light was added on the western pier in 1838. In 1855, the original keeper’s quarters were torn down and replaced with a brick two-story house. This house served the pier keepers and Coast Guard personnel for another 100 years. Considered “surplus property” by the government and threatened demolition, community groups have preserved the New York tower and established a museum.

Harbour Lights Collectible Replica - Open Edition. 5”x7” Lit by plug-in AC adapter provided or 3 "AA" batteries (not included).
