Fire Island, NY
A stone tower built in 1827 and fitted with 14 oil lamps was the original lighthouse built on Fire Island, New York. In the 1850’s a new 168-foot brick tower was built and still stands today. The keeper’s quarters were a double two-story Dutch colonial. A first order lens was in the tower. In 1912, the tower was encased in cement and painted alternating bands of black and white. By the 1980’s the tower and keeper’s dwelling were in much need of repair and the Fire Island Lighthouse Preservation Society as well as the National Park Service did the renovations needed. The USCG still manages the optics of the light and tours are given daily. Harbour Lights Collectible Replica - Open Edition. 6”x 6”
