Galileo Thermometer W Natural Finish Stand
The discovery of a simple law of physics—that the density of liquid changes as the temperature varies—is what led 16th-Century astronomer and scientist Galileo Galilei to the creation of the Galileo Thermometer, a thing of beauty and artful function even more desired today. Suspended in the clear glass liquid-filled cylinder are seven multi-colored globes, each with a numbered 24K gold-plated tag. As the density of the liquid in the cylinder changes, the globes rise or fall, to indicate room temperature from 60-84 degrees F. Simply read the tag on the lowest floating globe in the cylinder. Complete instructions are included. 15”H, framed and protected in a richly finished natural wood stand. For indoor use.
