Sandy was privileged to spend time living aboard the Mackinaw during its last two years of operation. She spent her time talking to the crew about how the boat systems work, the duties of the crew, and the crew's thoughts about the boat and the Coast Guard. These discussions, plus roughly 500 photos, are presented in the 150 page, full color book. It is a fascinating collection of interviews of crew members coupled with Sandy's enthusiastic understanding of the people and the machines she met.
