Port Clinton, OH

The lighthouse was originally located on the West pier of the Portage River entrance but by 1843 findings recommended that the light be discontinued due to lack of navigation in the area. The Ohio light continued to shine for a few more years. It was officially discontinued in 1870 and a custodian hired to watch over it while renovations took place. The new tower was a four-sided, pyramidal wooden structure and a new keepers residence was built at the same time. The new light was placed at the end of the west breakwater. Today, the lighthouse is a restaurant complete with historical artifacts and vintage photos.
