Established on the west side of Stonington Harbor in 1824 and later moved to the east side due to erosion this lighthouse consisted of 30 foot cylindrical stone tower and house. By 1900, it was clear that the light had outlived its usefulness. The Stonington Historical Society transformed the Connecticut lighthouse into a museum and displays artifacts dating back to the early days of the Pequot Indians and early New England whaling era.
