Whitefish Point - MI

The 80-mile stretch from Whitefish Point to Munising has claimed more than 300 vessels through the years. A simple stone tower was constructed in 1849 on Whitefish Point but extreme wind and weather conditions made it necessary to rebuild. In 1861 an iron-pile lighthouse was built which allowed the winds to flow right through it. Fog is also a problem in the area making various fog bells and whistles needed in the area. The Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Museum is located here and holds artifacts and a memorial to all the lost souls of tragic shipwrecks. BASE 3.5"W X 1.5"D 3.5"H
