One of James Harkenrider’s favorite photos of Michigan’s Little Point Sable Lighthouse was taken in 1950 or ‘51. This picture shows his parents’ 1950 Chevy that was the first new automobile they had ever owned. Jim recalled that they “had to borrow $800 from Uncle Carl” to help buy it. The other classic car (a 1939 Buick?) belonged to Jim Bellows the assistant keeper. This photo also show the keepers house which no longer stands and the tower when it was painted white.
