Photo Caption:

As an honor to Connie Small being 100 years old, the Coast Guard crew painted “Connie Small was here.” Connie and her husband lived in the Lubec Channel Lighthouse many years ago. Now known as “The First Lady of Light,” Connie and her husband Elson went on to live at many other lighthouses including Avery Rock, St. Croix, Nubble, Seguin, all in Maine and Portsmouth Harbor Light in New Hampshire. For more information on Connie Small we recommend the book, The Lighthouse Keepers Wife or visit the Lighthouse Digest web site archives for past stories on her at www.LighthouseDigest.com
