Paul’s father Bud Christian was very involved in the Gurnet Improvement Association (GIA). While he was secretary of the GIA, Bud Christian took up a collection among Gurnet residents for BM1 Al Ross, who was retiring from the Coast Guard after 20 years, the last three at the Gurnet.
