A Lighthouse Christmas Present

If you are trying to think of what you can do this holiday season to help save a lighthouse, may we make a suggestion? The answer is simple, make a cash donation to the American Lighthouse Foundation.

Now, more so than ever, the American Lighthouse Foundation is in need of cash for a large number of lighthouse projects. Every donation does make a difference.

The American Lighthouse Foundation is working to help lighthouses across the nation through public awareness, newspaper and magazine advertising, and of course media interviews. Constantly there are rare lighthouse artifacts that become available for sale. These items need to be purchased and kept out of private collections. They need to be in museums for all to view and learn.

But more importantly the Foundation is in need of immediate cash for a number of lighthouses that are in danger of being lost forever such as Grand Island East Channel Light, Avery Point Light, and Grand Harbour Light. Other lighthouses that need assistance are Plum Island Light, Esopus Meadows Light, Rockland Breakwater Light, Crisp Point Light, Long Point Light, Wood End Light, Plum Beach Light, and others. Just look at the Doomsday List of Endangered lighthouses and it will tell you just how desperate the situation is. There are many more lighthouses that although they are not on the Doomsday List, may soon be if they are not given financial help.

Remember, any donation you send, whether it be cash, an endowment, or artifact, is tax deductible as allowed by law.

Please, this holiday season, before the year is over, make a holiday contribution and send it to American Lighthouse Foundation, P.O. Box 889, Wells, Maine 04090.
