Back in 1993 Ned’s Point Light in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts, became the first lighthouse in the United States to be “adopted” by the local Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla. Clayton Hagy became the volunteer keeper of the lighthouse, and over the years he conducted many tours and open houses at the 1838 tower. Everyone who has toured Ned’s Point Light with Mr. Hagy has been impressed by his knowledge and dedication. He was named 1999 New Bedford Standard-Times Mattapoisett Man of the Year Award for his work at the lighthouse.

Albert Theriault is now the new keeper of Ned’s Point Light for the Coast Guard Auxiliary. We congratulate Clayton Hagy for his seven years of excellent service. He has been a valuable member of the lighthouse community, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.

Open houses are held at Ned’s Point Light on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in July and August, and at other times by appointment.
