Notes:
This lighthouse is located within Leelanau State Park, which features coastal dunes, rustic campsites along Lake Michigan and eight miles of hiking trails. The light was replaced by a skeletal tower in 1972, and the Grand Traverse Lighthouse Foundation worked to preserve the station, which is now maintained as a museum.

There is now a museum in the keeper's quarters. A fourth order Fresnel lens is on display. The rooms are restored with period furnishings. Visitors may also climb to the lantern room for a spectacular view. Hours; May 1-May 31, 12-4 p.m.; June 1 - Labor Day, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. ; day after Labor Day - Oct 31, 12 - 4 p.m., Sat & Sun in the month of Nov. and closing on the first Sunday in Dec. with a Christmas celebration.

Directions:
From Traverse City, take M-22 to Northport. In Northport take M-201 and follow the signs to Leelanau State Park and the lighthouse. For reservations, call Brenner Tours at 800-338-5963.
