The lighthouse station, except the tower, is the property of the Town of Bristol. The property is now Lighthouse Park; the Fishermen's Museum in the keeper's house opened in 1972. The fog bell tower and attached engine house were built in 1992 after 1991 storms destroyed the originals. The lighthouse tower is licensed by the Coast Guard to the American Lighthouse Foundation. Volunteers of the Friends of Pemaquid Point Lighthouse manage the tower only.

Museum?
The Fishermen's Museum is on the first floor of the keeper's house. The museum houses exhibits on the history of the local fishing and lobstering industries. There is also a map showing the locations of all of Maine's lighthouses, and a Fresnel lens from Baker Island Light. The museum is open every day in summer and depends entirely on public donations. Volunteers of the Friends of Pemaquid Point Lighthouse (a chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation) manage the tower only. Volunteers open the tower in season (Memorial Day to Columbus Day) to the public every day from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The tower might be closed on rainy days or if there are no volunteers available. There is no charge to climb the tower but donations are appreciated. Fees may apply for offseason openings.
Directions:
From US Route 1 in Damariscotta, take ME 130 south to Bristol (about 14.5 miles). The route leads right to the parking lot at Pemaquid Point. There is a small parking fee. Visitors are allowed to walk on the rocks near the lighthouse, but be sure to exercise extreme caution, especially in rough weather. There have been a number of deaths and injuries in the area over the years. The lighthouse can also be seen from a sunset lighthouse cruise offered in summer by Hardy Boat Cruises in New Harbor; call (207) 677-2026 or (800) 2-PUFFIN for information.
