Notes:
The light on the walls of Fort Wadsworth was discontinued in 1965 after construction of the nearby Verrazano Narrows Bridge. The abandoned structure fell into disrepair, but it was restored for its 100th birthday. It was relighted on May 10, 2003.

Directions:
North on Staten Island Expressway (I-278): Take the Bay Street exit to a traffic light. Turn left and continue to Bay Street, turn right and continue through the park's entrance to the visitor center on the left. South from Brooklyn: Take I-278 across the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. After reaching Staten Island take the Fort Wadsworth & School Street exit. Follow School Road to Bay Street, turn right and continue through the park's entrance to the visitor center. The Fort Wadsworth Visitor Center is open to the general public Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. Visitors can walk along a 1.5 mile trail that introduces the major fortifications of the site.
