Notes:
After this lighthouse discontinued, ownership was transferred to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In August 2003 the Ontonagon County Historical Society obtained ownership of the lighthouse for the purposes of rehabilitating the building and opening it for public tours.

Museum?
The Ontonagon County Historical Museum is at 422 River Street, not far from the lighthouse. The museum houses a replica of the famous Ontonagon copper boulder and the original Fresnel lens from the Ontonagon Lighthouse. It is open January through May: 9 to 5 Monday through Friday, and June through December 9 to 5 Monday through Saturday. Open weekends by appointment.

Directions:
Follow M-38 into Ontonagon. Continue as the road becomes River Street. Park at the Ontonagon County Historical Museum at 422 River Street; you can get directions to the lighthouse from there. Lighthouse Tours are available in summer Monday - Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., originating at the Ontonagon County Historical Society Museum at 422 River Street. Tours are also available by appointment, including during the offseason. Tour groups are welcome by appointment on Sundays, too.
