 |
South Africa's black and white vertical banded Great Fish Point Lighthouse is a concrete octagon tower. The first order lens in the tower is an exact twin of the lens in Australia's Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse. As late as the 1930's supplies were transported to the lighthouse by horse. The station had a stable with two horses and they even employed a groom to take care of the animals. Originally a three man station it now has only a single senior lighthouse keeper.
