ABOVE: On the right was “hunk,” Chief Bos’n and the station cook at Hog Island. Kearn recalled that Hunk’s wife lived on shore and a lot of the men would send their dirty laundry via him for his wife to wash and earn some extra money. The man on the left is Boot Lloyd from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
