In honor of the International Lighthouse Conference taking place in New Bedford, MA, the waterfront park where the Lightship Sailors Memorial, was renamed Coast Guard Park. This photo was taken on the very first day the new sign was displayed. (l-r) Bill Collette, vice president of the American Lighthouse Foundation, Rita Anderson of the Newfoundland Lighthouse Society, Canada, and Art Motta, Director of Tourism and Marketing for the City of New Bedford pose in front of the newly erected sign naming the park by the Lightship Sailors Memorial, Coast Guard Park.
