Duncan McGregor Lambert, seen here with his wife Louisa, was keeper at Chantry Island from 1858 to 1880. He was on the island when the Altair was wrecked in 1864, but the lack of a lifeboat prevented him from assisting the crew. Courtesy of the Marine Heritage Society of Southampton.
