70% of the money has been raised and is in the bank. However, since the lighthouse sits on property that is owned by the University of Connecticut they will not allow the contractor to begin work until all the money is in the bank.

The Buck for the Light program only brought in about $1,000.00. This is good, but far short of the amount that is now needed to save this lighthouse. The balance of $24,000 must be in the bank in the next two weeks or the contractors will most likely take another job and it will then be too late to save Avery Point Lighthouse. This does not include installing new windows which will cost more, but is not necessary to be done now to save the tower.

There is money out there to save this lighthouse.

Time is running short. This may be the last appeal ever to save the lighthouse. If it collapses, it will not be rebuilt.
