Hampton Helps History
Volunteer employees of Hampton Inns got out paintbrushes and worked side by side with International Chimney employees in giving Georgia’s historic Tybee Island Lighthouse a fresh coat of paint.
The program was part of the Hampton Save a Landmark program that raised money to help save a number of national historic landmarks.
Hampton Inns presented the lighthouse with a check for $42,000, which helped pay for the expenses of giving the lighthouse a fresh look. The project took several weeks to complete using a specialty type paint that allows the stucco to expand but keeps the moisture from penetrating.
Since the Save a Landmark program began five years ago, employees of Hampton Inns have work on projects across the United States such as the Monument of the States in Kissimmee, Florida, a one-room schoolhouse in Northville, Michigan and the World’s Largest Santa Claus in North Pole, Alaska.
