Louisiana’s New Canal Lighthouse, which had been severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina, collapsed from the winds of a strong cold front that hit the area on the last days of November.
Preservationists, among them volunteers from the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation, hope to salvage as much of the ruins as possible, for use in rebuilding another lighthouse.
