We have recently received a number of letters from people who said they were
disappointed that we did not write about a lighthouse restoration project that they learned about in a local newspaper, when they depend on us for their lighthouse news. As we have said before, unfortunately, we don't have a staff of reporters roaming the nation in search of updated stories.
We have always depended on our loyal readers to help keep us updated, as well as help from the various lighthouse groups around the globe. Also, some of the lighthouse groups either do not care to receive national attention, or never answer our emails and when some do they don't include enough information for a complete story or send us such poor quality photos, so we can't use them. Then there are those groups who just don't care about sharing information.
On the positive side, we have an over-abundance of good stories and information arriving every day from many lighthouse groups and historians that do care, however, it's impossible to use all the materials that arrive. We do our best to provide our readers with a mixture of historical stories as well as current lighthouse news, but it is virtually impossible to report everything in a monthly publication with the limited space that we have. We'll keep doing our best and thank our many readers and nonprofits that do help us in promoting the lighthouse preservation cause.
And don't forget, if you have a lighthouse story to tell, please let us know.
