Lightships were known as floating lighthouses. They were stationed in areas where it was simply too dangerous or impossible to build a lighthouse. Lightship duty was considered the most dangerous duty of the old Lighthouse Service and Coast Guard. Lightships are no longer used and only 15 remain in existence in the United States with most of them being on the endangered list. You’ll be proud to display these exquisitely detailed lightships in your home or office. Each one comes with its own wood display stand, minor assembly required.
The Huron Lightship served on Lake Huron from 1921 to 1970. It is now on permanent dry-dock display in Port Huron, MI. 20 ½”L x 14”H x 5”W
