The entire scene is painted on the inside of the glass through a tiny opening in the top. Reverse painting flourished in the 17th century, but only a few skilled artists are able to create these ornaments today. Each comes cradled in a luxurious, padded silk gift box with a booklet describing the process, the artist's picture, biography and statement of authenticity. 2 1/2"W x 5"H.
