But the close-knit family didn’t mind the isolation or the lack of facilities and conveniences, and found delight in the variety and beauty of island life-the unexpected surprises of a walk along the shore after a store, the wind tossed nights when the lighthouse would shake, the “lighting up” at sunset and, of course, the ever-changing sea.
