This is the tallest land-based lighthouse in Britain. The original 1789 lighthouse on North Ronaldsay is also still standing. The North Ronaldsay Trust bought the keepers’ cottages and associated buildings in 2003, and they will be used for tourist accommodations and workshops for local businesses.

This is the only lighthouse in Orkney with guided tours for visitors. Tours are available on Sundays in summer and by arrangement.
