All buildings except the lighthouse and oil house at Wood End were destroyed by the Coast Guard after the light's 1961 automation. The lighthouse is being restored by the American Lighthouse Foundation.

Directions:
Wood End Light can be reached by walking across a breakwater at the west end of Commercial Street. The walk is fairly strenuous and the breakwater is exposed to waves and spray in rough weather. You can also take a water shuttle from Provincetown's West End to Long Point -- call Flyer's at (508) 487-0898 or (800) 750-0898. The walk from Long Point to Wood End is a couple of miles over soft sand.
