Notes:
During the early years of America's space program, the top of the lighthouse was a favorite spot for rocket scientist Werner Von Braun to watch launchings. The ownership of the lighthouse has been transferred from the Coast Guard to the 45th Space Wing (United States Air Force) . It is hoped that the tower will be accessible to tours in the future.

Directions:
The lighthouse is within the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. It can be seen from guided bus tours. Call (321) 449-4444 for more information. Distant sightings of the lighthouse are also possible from the city of Cape Canaveral from the beach at the ends of several avenues with presidential names, beginning with Washington (south) to Polk (north). From John Warnick (1/2/02): A park has been open on the South side of Port Canaveral called Jetty Park. This park provides a view of the lighthouse, though binoculars are needed. There is a small fee to enter the park; once you are there you can walk out the fishing pier and look to the north. Directions to Jetty Park: Take SR 528 east into Canaveral; it will become US A1A (Astronaut Blvd.). Take a left at Central Blvd. West until you reach Atlantic Ave north. Take a left onto Atlantic Ave. north until you reach Jetty Drive. Take a right on Jetty Drive and pay the fee, and proceed to parking area and walk out on the fishing pier.
