The Middle Island Lightkeepers Association is restoring the keeper's dwelling at this station with the idea of eventually turning into a bed and breakfast inn. The Friends of Middle Island Lighthouse, a chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation, are raising money for the restoration of the lighthouse tower and plan to open it to the public.
