1998 White Shoals Light, Michigan Item #92145 ...

Originally our cover was titled “A Wreath for Lenny” but the artist Virgina Souza, knew that would not mean anything to most, except the volunteers at the American Lighthouse Foundation who knew what the Little River Lighthouse meant to Len Hadley. It was Len’s dream to spend the first years of his retirement working on the restoration of Little River Lighthouse, a dream that didn’t happen, for Lenny passed away last October. Len who was active in many other lighthouse restoration projects fell in love with Little River Lighthouse at first sight. In his last days, while in great pain, he went to the island lighthouse to help with restoration work at what he called his “favorite spot on earth.”

1999 West Quoddy Light, Maine Item #88312 ...

The new name, “The Final Touch,” refers to the tower at Maine’s Little River Lighthouse now being restored with Santa affixing the wreath completing the “final touch” on Christmas Eve. You will also notice the red, white and blue holiday lights on the keeper’s house as well as the red, white and blue ribbon on the tower. This is to remind us all that this lighthouse was not only lit as a remembrance to the keepers of yesteryear, but in memory of those who lost their lives in the terrorists attacks on America, making a statement to the world that the American way of life will never be darkened and the light of freedom will shine forever.
