Isle au Haut Evokes Memory

I received my first issue of Lighthouse Digest and was absolutely thrilled. However, I was saddened to learn about the current situation of the lighthouse at Isle au Haut (Maine). Although I have never been to Isle au Haut, it has a very special meaning to me.

My dearest friend, Joanne and her new husband, Terry, chose the Keepers House Inn at Isle au Haut for their honeymoon. After years of hard times, Joanne finally found happiness with Terry. Being a lighthouse enthusiast, she chose Isle au Haut for their honeymoon stay. It was to be the happiest time of their new life together. Within a year, Joanne was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. A year later, she was gone. Terry, Joanne's husband, had a replica built of the Isle au Haut Lighthouse. It is absolutely beautiful, not to mention bittersweet.

In Joanne Deyo's memory, I will be making a donation to the Isle au Haut fund. Although it won't be as much as I would like it to be, it will be something. Hopefully, I will make donations, in Joanne's name, on a regular basis, and also visit Isle au Haut in the near future.

Likes Staten Island

I really like the idea on page 12 of the February Lighthouse Digest about having a national lighthouse museum in old Lighthouse Depot on Staten Island. It would be history preserving history.
