In spite of the winter weather the rebuilding is moving forward with the rebuilding expected to be complete by Memorial Day. When the project is completed it will reflect Absecon Lighthouse at its most historical time, 1925 (when it was electrified) until 1933 when it was decommissioned as an aid to navigation.

In spite of the fire that destroyed the keeper’s house, the tower has been open to the public since April 1999. Hundreds of people have come to climb the 228 steps and enjoy the magnificent view of Atlantic City, the Atlantic Ocean and Absecon Inlet.

This past holiday season volunteers hung four-foot wreaths on the railing around the watch deck, which could be seen and enjoyed by thousands.
