I became interested in learning about and visiting lighthouses several years ago when I came across an article detailing the sad state of affairs of many of our formerly great navigational aids. I lived for years on the shores of Lake Erie, spending much of my warm weather months sailing and racing, it was not until I moved to Cincinnati that I came to have an appreciation for the great lighthouses and their histories. Since then I have taken three self directed lighthouse touring vacations. Number four is set for the year 2001 in Maine. Any hints, tips or suggestions for that trip would be appreciated.
