Was in US Coast Guard 1954-1964--served as keeper at West Quoddy Head in Lubec--also Little River Light in Cutler and Eldred Rock Light in Alaska 1961-62 Was relief keeper on Seguin in 1963 Also spent time on Moose Peak Lifeboat Station,Quoddy Head Lifeboat Station,Cross Island Lifeboat Station and Kennebec River Lifeboat Station.
