Each handpainted resin replica is accurate in detail and includes a wooden stand with nameplate. Replica measures 21"W x 4"D x 6"H.

CSS Atlanta, an 1,006-ton ironclad ram, was originally built as the blockade runner steamship Fingal. In November 1861, Fingal was converted to a casemate ironclad and renamed Atlanta. In June 1863, Atlanta attacked Union blockaders in Wassau Sound. She encountered the U. S. Navy monitors Nahant and Weehawken. In a brief battle, the awkward Confederate ironclad ran aground and was overwhelmed by Weehawken's superior firepower, forcing her to surrender.    # 13148

CSS Virginia

$69.95

CSS Virginia

Virtually invulnerable to gunfire, the great iron-armored gunships of the Civil War changed the course of naval warfare. Now you can experience just how magnificent these warships really were. Each handpainted resin replica is accurate in detail and includes a wooden stand with nameplate. Replica measures 25"W x 5"D x 7"H.

In early 1862, the Confederate Navy converted the USS Merrimack into a casemate ironclad ram, a new type of warship, commissioned as CSS Virginia. She had a formidable array of guns and an iron ram affixed to her bow, allowing the ship to be employed as a deadly weapon. She steamed into Hampton Roads where she sank the USS Cumberland and ran the USS Congress aground. Virginia tried to knock Monitor out, but the first ironclad duel in history was a draw. Virginia had taken too much damage and she would never fight again.    # 13145
